INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE

Marclais ecological valve is an altitude compensator device that allows balanced airflow into the engine admission manifold. The valve also fine-tunes its mechanism automatically according to the topography varying altitudes to improve car performance regardless its running on butane gas or gasoline, for both carbureted or fuel injection engines.
All valve models and their installation process can differ depending on the engine motor size of each vehicle, and therefore it is advisable to consult with a specialist prior to set up.

Marclais ecological valve promotes fuel SAVINGS of 10% to 20% in either butane gas or petrol consumption, without affecting engine POWER and better yet, boosting motor performance. And the more complete combustion becomes, the lower contaminating emissions will be produced, thus making the ecological valve a great tool to fight environment pollution.

KEEP IN MIND that every time you stomp on the accelerator, either at starting up the vehicle, at changing speed gears, when driving uphill or passing another vehicle, the engine is subject to extreme operating conditions. That sudden fact will usually produce a disturbing noise inside the engine commonly known as rattling or jingling. Marclais ecological valve helps reduce this setback as it interacts with the lambda probe or SO2 (oxygen sensor) in electronic injection vehicles.

THERE IS NO NEED TO ALTER THE MANUFACTURE TIMING, but whenever in cold state conditions it is recommended to allow a longer engine warm-up period before starting up the vehicle in order to prevent engine power loss, which is especially true in carbureted vehicles.

Prior to installing Marclais ecology valve, make sure you choose the appropriate valve model (1, 2, 3 or 4) based on the engine cylinder capacity. Then locate one of the fuse caps on the admission manifold and proceed to remove it (Figure 1).

Once removed, install the fitting hose connection just where the manifold cap used to be and proceed to seal up one of the ecology valve plug ends with another 1/8 NPT thread cap. To seal one of the plug ends, first remove any of the aluminum fittings on the ecological valve and replace with the 1/8” NPT threaded cap supplied (optional) with the valve; then proceed to make a 5cm cut on the 3/8" 200-pound pressure hose and insert it into the other ecology valve aluminum fitting.

Use a pair of screw clamps to secure the connection (see Fig.1). If no plug or vacuum cap is available on the admission manifold (see Fig.2) seek professional assistance at your preferred repair shop where they can make a precise technical perforation-using a 11/32’’ drill (drilling should start with a ¼" bit tool)-on a selected and convenient manifold area so that it will not obstruct the throttle system levers. Afterwards proceed carving a slight groove into that opening by using a 1/8”NPT screw tap (conical self-sealing thread similar to those applied on gas lines, which help prevent leakage) and then proceed to install a 1/8"NPT threaded hose fitting (optional). Next remove one of the two aluminum fittings that are bolted onto the ecology valve and finally proceed with the valve installation as previously instructed.

IMPORTANT: Ecology valve proper functioning requires that both the hose and the fittings used during initial setup have a minimum 1\4" (6.35 mm) inner diameter. Otherwise, the mechanism would not likely work fine (not closing) due to lack of adequate physical space to allow proper airflow through the valve into the admission manifold. If that is the case, and the valve would not shut, you can override it by using scotch tape to hinder the airflow entry and thus prevent extra environment airflow intake.

For optimal use of the ecological valve, just follow these simple maintenance instructions:

- Clean the visible outer steel mesh filter on top of the ecological valve every 10,000 km or at every oil change if the vehicle regularly travels on unpaved roads. Use spray type cleaners (those used for injection or carburetor engines, as applicable) to remove visible accumulated debris. Better cleaning outcome can be achieved with running engine mode as the cleaner ingredients will get deeper inside the valve. Brief and repeated acceleration steps are recommended for best results.

Warning: Special care should be taken when unscrewing the upper lid or top filter of the valve, not to forget re-adjusting it tight back in place to avoid losing that part under normal engine vibration.

NOTE: DO NOT ATTEMPT to disassemble the ecology valve, as you could break its internal compressed calibrated spring.

Device warranty is one year from the time of purchase or 20,000 run km after installation date, whichever comes first. However, warranty will be void in the event Marclais engineers conclude that the valve has been tampered with, disassembled or tuned out. Marclais valve operating features have been validated by Ecopetrol Oil Company, The Colombian Ministry of Environment and Andes University. It has also been credited by Antioquia University, EPM, Natural Gas, Inc. and thousands of customers nationwide.
